Lena Sirota
About the artist
Lena Sirota was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She graduated from the prestigious art institute, Mukhina Art Academy in 1985. Much of her work has been inspired by the techniques of Goya and Rerich. While living in Saint Petersburg she was able to make a living for herself both as a painter and a visual arts instructor. Life and circumstances brought her to the United States in the early 2000s. Boston's thriving art community quickly revitalized Lena's passion for oil on canvas. With the help of Teri Malo, a predominant painter, Lena was able to join the distinctive community of artists in Boston.
Much of Lena's inspiration comes from the natural beauty of the northeast. Her works incorporate everything from the changing colors of the seasons to the architecture that can only be found in Boston. Her paintings demonstrate a large emphasis on composition, gesture, and tonal features. Often, the goal of her work is to bridge the gap between realism and abstraction.
Lena's paintings have been displayed at a number of galleries in and around Boston. The galleries include but are not limited to the Danforth Museum, the Concord Art Association, the Cambridge Art Association, and Powers Gallery in Acton, MA.
